I’M RUNNING FOR MENLO PARK CITY SCHOOL BOARD.

COVID-19. WHAT NOW?

This is the time to stabilize and normalize distance learning for all our children.

This is the time to shelter in place and prepare for the long-term educational and economic consequences of staying home.

Let’s take this time to show our love for our children, families, teachers, healthcare workers and essential workers.

We’re in this together. #StaySafe #Stayhome #StayInformed

HOW CAN I HELP?

If you’re like me, you’re looking for ways to contribute in this COVID-19 world. I launched my Menlo Park City School Board Campaign before the Corona Virus launched its campaign, and now, more than ever, I want to serve you. Immediately after the school board voted to close campuses, I sent an alert to everyone on my email list so they could get the latest information as quickly as possible. I will continue to communicate through my newsletter to ensure quick dissemination of important developments. To receive those newsletters, sign up here.

Moving forward, I will fight to protect the quality education and programs that define this district. I am well-positioned to be your representative.

  • I was an education policy advisor to former Assemblyman Rich Gordon; I know the issues and am well-connected to policy experts and actors.

  • I’m an MPCSD parent and active volunteer; I’ve got skin in this game.

  • I was a journalist (KQED, NYT, Reuters) for 20+ years; I’m a good listener and communicator.

MEETING CHALLENGES, TOGETHER

For the moment, our schools are positioned to weather this COVID-19 storm, because our community has consistently invested in Menlo Park schools. But moving forward, MPCSD is facing a contraction in many of our funding sources, which could impact our offerings. As your MPCSD board member, I will not only press to keep up that investment momentum, but strengthen it.

I will work to ensure that when campuses do reopen, they’ll be safe, clean and staffed to address the social and emotional repercussions of the extended campus closures.

This crisis is a learning experience, and I believe we can come out stronger as individuals and as a community. I remain steadfast in my commitment to provide every child, regardless of circumstance, regardless of COVID-19, the education and opportunities to build the life of their dreams.
